Do Horses Recognize Their Owners

Question from a reader about whether horses recognize their owners. Short answer: yes, absolutely.

My gelding knows my truck sound, my footsteps, probably my smell before I’m anywhere near his stall. The nicker when I arrive isn’t random. Recognition is real.

Science backs this up too. Studies show horses remember faces and associate them with emotions. They know who treats them well and who doesn’t. Memory like elephants in that way.
